Story Highlights
------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------
1. Samsung May Have Edged Out Apple
------------------------------------------------------------
Samsung's first quarter earnings suggest that it has reached a
significant milestone: It could be the world's largest mobile phone
manufacturer, topping Apple in market reach. In this case, "suggest" is
the operative word. "As you know, Samsung doesn't give their cellphone
shipment numbers," said Azita Arvani of the Arvani Group, "and analysts
have differing opinions on how many Samsung smartphones were actually
shipped."

2. Everyone's Doing the Apple Tax Dance
------------------------------------------------------------
Apple is employing several legal tax strategies to take its record-
setting profit levels even higher. For example, the company's business
doesn't just operate out of Cupertino, Calif., where the corporate tax
rate is 8.84 percent. Apple has an office in Reno, Nev., where it can
manage investments at a zero percent corporate tax rate.

5. Putting a B2B E-Commerce Twist Into the SMB
------------------------------------------------------------
Business-to-business selling on the Internet, or B2B e-commerce, is one
of the fastest growing segments of the small-business marketplace. As
businesses flock to the Internet to find vendors for essential products
and services, B2B e-commerce is rapidly expanding, both in terms of
total revenue and the number of small B2B firms operating in the digital
space.

6. FTC Brandishes Big Legal Gun in Google Antitrust Investigation
------------------------------------------------------------
Interest in the United States Federal Trade Commission's antitrust probe
into Google was given a jolt with the commission's decision to enlist
seasoned white-collar crime litigator Beth Wilkinson to head the
investigation. "When we have the opportunity to augment our team by
bringing on a lawyer with Beth Wilkinson's skills, judgment and
experience, it is an easy decision to do so," said the FTC's Richard
Feinstein.
